BACKGROUND

On March 6, 2018, City Council awarded a construction contract to Big Ben, Inc., Irvine, CA in the amount of $985,687 for the Water Main Replacement Projects at Various Locations (Quadrant III, Phase 1) WA19A.  Additionally, the City Council authorized expenditures of up to $98,568.00 for project contingencies, bringing the construction contract budget to an amount not-to-exceed $1,084,255.

All water improvements have been constructed.  The location of the street improvements constructed as part of this project are listed below:

Oaks Avenue from Walnut Avenue to 60 Freeway - WA191/WA19A

17th Street from “C” Street to Cul-De-Sac - WA192/WA19A

16th Street from “C” Street to Cul-De-Sac - WA193/WA19A

Olvera Court from Magnolia Avenue to Cul-De-Sac - WA194/WA19A

Ida Court from Basswood Avenue to Cul-De-Sac - WA 198/WA19A

ISSUES/ANALYSIS

All work has been completed per the terms of the contract.  The following is a summary of the final accounting of costs for the project:

Big Ben, Inc., Irvine, CA, has complied with the terms of the contract.  A Notice of Completion has been prepared for filing with the San Bernardino County Recorder's Office.  The retention funds will be released following the 35-day lien period.
